Ripe Launcher transforma Android en BlackBerry OS 7: què imita i què continua sent Android
Ripe Launcher recrea la pantalla d’inici de BlackBerry OS 7 en Android, especialment en telèfons amb teclat. Repassem funcions, trackpad, instal·lació i els límits de la transformació.
BlackBerry OS 7 torna, però només a la pantalla d’inici
Jan Ole Helmbold ensenya Ripe Launcher, una aplicació per a Android que recrea la pantalla d’inici de BlackBerry OS 7. En un telèfon amb teclat físic, com els Unihertz Titan 2 o Titan 2 Elite, l’efecte visual és prou convincent per recordar un Bold 9900 de 2011.
El matís del títol del vídeo és essencial: no instal·la BlackBerry OS 7. Un launcher substitueix la pantalla d’inici, el calaix d’aplicacions i una part de la navegació d’Android. El sistema operatiu, els controladors, les notificacions, les aplicacions i la seguretat continuen sent els del telèfon Android.
Ripe és un projecte independent i no converteix el dispositiu en un producte oficial de BlackBerry. Tampoc recupera la infraestructura antiga de correu, BlackBerry Messenger o BlackBerry Internet Service.
Per què el Bold 9900 continua sent una referència
El Bold 9900 combinava marc metàl·lic, pantalla tàctil, trackpad òptic i un teclat QWERTY molt valorat. Va ser un dels models emblemàtics de l’última etapa de BlackBerry OS abans que BlackBerry 10 canviés completament la interfície.
BlackBerry OS 7 estava dissenyat al voltant de tecles físiques i moviments curts. L’usuari podia saltar entre icones, cercar, obrir menús i llegir notificacions sense estirar el dit per una pantalla gran. Les guies d’interfície de BlackBerry d’aquella època tractaven teclat, trackpad i tacte com a formes d’entrada complementàries.
Aquest enfocament torna a tenir sentit en els nous Android amb teclat. Un launcher convencional, pensat per a pantalles verticals de sis o set polzades, pot aprofitar malament una pantalla quadrada i deixar poc espai útil sobre les tecles.
Què reprodueix Ripe Launcher
La zona inferior funciona com el calaix clàssic de BlackBerry. Les aplicacions s’organitzen en pestanyes, amb favorits, recents i la llista completa. Una pulsació llarga permet afegir una aplicació als favorits o reordenar-la.
La franja central concentra informació breu:
- pròxims esdeveniments del calendari;
- alarma programada;
- temps;
- pista d’àudio en reproducció.
A la part superior hi ha accessos que recorden els perfils de so, les notificacions i la cerca de contactes o aplicacions. El vídeo també mostra opcions per amagar la barra d’estat, situar la bateria dins de la composició, canviar el color d’accent i escollir un fons inspirat en OS 7.
El lloc oficial de Ripe afegeix carpetes, quadrícula configurable, pestanyes personalitzades, rellotge de 12 o 24 hores i compatibilitat amb paquets d’icones. L’objectiu declarat no és només la nostàlgia: vol reduir desordre i mantenir visibles les aplicacions que s’utilitzen de debò.
El paquet d’icones completa la il·lusió
Instal·lar només el launcher deixa les icones modernes d’Android dins d’una estructura antiga. El creador recomana el paquet visual de Ripe i un fons de BlackBerry OS 7 perquè tipografia, formes i colors encaixin millor.
Cal distingir inspiració d’emulació. El paquet recrea una estètica, però cada icona continua obrint l’aplicació Android corresponent. El correu no és el client original de BlackBerry, la configuració completa del sistema continua sent la del fabricant i les pantalles internes de les aplicacions no canvien.
Aquesta separació és positiva: permet conservar actualitzacions, serveis mòbils i aplicacions modernes sense dependre d’un sistema que ja no té suport.
El teclat com a trackpad
La funció més interessant és utilitzar la superfície tàctil del teclat com a trackpad. En els Titan compatibles, el dit es pot desplaçar per les tecles per moure’s per la pantalla d’inici i seleccionar una icona. És l’aproximació més pròxima a l’experiència del Bold.
Durant la prova, el desplaçament funciona bé, però el toc sobre el teclat no sempre obre l’element seleccionat. Helmbold ho atribueix possiblement a una opció de configuració. La pàgina actual de Ripe anuncia navegació tàctil sobre teclats compatibles de la família Titan i de dispositius Clicks, de manera que el suport pot evolucionar amb actualitzacions.
En el Zinwa Q25, un BlackBerry Classic modificat amb Android, el trackpad físic encara no s’integra de manera ideal amb aquesta versió del launcher. La semblança exterior és excel·lent, però no totes les entrades antigues tenen una correspondència directa a Android.
Com s’instal·la sense confondre aparença i sistema
La via preferible és la fitxa oficial de Google Play quan el dispositiu hi és compatible. El web de Ripe també distribueix un APK perquè alguns telèfons de nínxol no apareixen com a compatibles a la botiga.
Si es fa una instal·lació manual, convé:
- descarregar només des del domini oficial indicat pel desenvolupador;
- revisar que el nom del paquet i el desenvolupador coincideixin;
- comprovar els permisos sol·licitats abans d’acceptar-los;
- desactivar de nou el permís per instal·lar aplicacions desconegudes;
- mantenir Android i Google Play Protect actualitzats.
Un launcher pot necessitar accés a notificacions, calendari, contactes o informació de reproducció per mostrar els widgets. Cada permís amplia el que pot llegir. Si una funció no es necessita, és millor denegar-la i comprovar si la resta continua operativa.
Tornar enrere és senzill: a la configuració d’Android es pot seleccionar el launcher original com a aplicació d’inici predeterminada. Desinstal·lar Ripe no reinstal·la ni elimina Android.
Què no recupera
BlackBerry va retirar els serveis heretats de BlackBerry 7.1 i anteriors el 4 de gener de 2022. La mateixa empresa va advertir que aquells dispositius ja no funcionarien de manera fiable per a dades, trucades, SMS o emergències perquè moltes funcions depenien de la infraestructura de xarxa de BlackBerry.
Ripe no reobre aquests serveis. El que ofereix és:
- la disposició visual de la pantalla d’inici;
- una navegació pensada per al polze i el teclat;
- icones i fons nostàlgics;
- widgets moderns dins d’una composició antiga.
No ofereix el sistema de permisos de BlackBerry, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, la compressió de dades, el navegador antic ni compatibilitat nativa amb aplicacions BBOS. La seguretat depèn d’Android, del fabricant del telèfon, del nivell de pegat i de les aplicacions instal·lades.
Per a qui té sentit
En un telèfon rectangular sense teclat, Ripe és sobretot un tema visual i una pantalla d’inici compacta. En un Titan, un Q25 o un dispositiu Clicks, la combinació de pantalla petita i tecles físiques li dona una funció pràctica.
Pot interessar a qui vol:
- menys icones i distraccions;
- informació essencial d’un cop d’ull;
- navegació amb una mà;
- recuperar la memòria muscular d’un BlackBerry;
- conservar WhatsApp, mapes, banca i altres aplicacions Android actuals.
Abans d’adoptar-lo com a launcher diari cal provar accessibilitat, widgets, gestos, rotació, notificacions i consum de bateria. El vídeo és una demostració breu, no una prova de fiabilitat de diverses setmanes.
Conclusió
Ripe Launcher no instal·la BlackBerry OS 7, però recupera una de les parts que més es troben a faltar: una pantalla d’inici densa, ordenada i dissenyada per a teclat físic. Amb el paquet d’icones i un fons adequat, un Android modern pot semblar un Bold o un Torch sense renunciar a les aplicacions actuals.
El límit és clar. Fora del launcher, el telèfon continua sent Android, i els serveis originals de BlackBerry ja estan retirats. La proposta funciona millor quan es veu com una adaptació contemporània, no com una resurrecció completa del sistema.

On the main screen, you've got your app drawer in the bottom partitioned into your favorites, recent, [music] and all apps just like it was in 2011. You can easily add apps to your favorites by long pressing on them or rearrange them in the drawer. And you can easily change the default category that is showing when turning it up in the settings.
