Khadas Mind Pro a prova: mini PC, estació amb RTX 5060 Ti i portàtil modular
Zip Tie Tech prova l’ecosistema Khadas Mind Pro: un mini PC amb bateria de seguretat que s’acobla a una RTX 5060 Ti d’escriptori o a la pantalla Mind xPlay per fer de portàtil.
El Khadas Mind Pro és un mini PC que intenta ser tres ordinadors alhora. Sol funciona com una màquina compacta; acoblat al Mind Graphics 2 es converteix en una estació amb una GeForce RTX 5060 Ti d’escriptori; i connectat al Mind xPlay adopta pantalla, teclat i bateria per fer de portàtil.
Zip Tie Tech prova cada configuració i arriba a una conclusió desigual. El nucli és potent, la bateria de seguretat és una idea excel·lent i la connexió directa amb la GPU resol molts problemes de les eGPU convencionals. El mode portàtil, en canvi, té poca autonomia, un teclat irregular i unions magnètiques que no sempre transmeten confiança. Mind Pro: molta potència en mig quilo
La unitat provada incorpora un Intel Core Ultra 7 358H de la generació Panther Lake, 64 GB de memòria LPDDR5X a 8.533 MT/s i un SSD NVMe de 2 TB. La gràfica integrada és una Intel Arc B390. Khadas també ofereix una variant Core Ultra X9, tot i que el revisor no espera una diferència enorme en el mateix volum tèrmic.
El xassís d’alumini mecanitzat pesa poc més de mig quilo i concentra dos ports Thunderbolt, dos USB-A i HDMI a la part posterior. A la caixa hi ha un carregador GaN de 100 W i un cable USB-C. La selecció és suficient per a un ús bàsic, però curta quan s’hi volen connectar pantalla, xarxa, emmagatzematge i perifèrics; per això existeix el Mind Dock.
Amb un límit sostingut de 65 W, el Mind Pro supera en diverses proves portàtils amb el mateix processador, com l’XPS 14 i l’MSI Prestige 14. En gràfics integrats també queda per davant de bona part dels equips Panther Lake comparats. El vídeo arriba a mostrar Forza Horizon 5 al voltant dels 160 fotogrames per segon en la configuració utilitzada, una dada que no s’ha d’extrapolar a 4K o qualitat màxima.
Una bateria que no pretén substituir l’endoll
La característica preferida del canal és una bateria interna de 7,9 Wh. No està pensada per treballar hores lluny de la xarxa, sinó per actuar com un petit sistema d’alimentació ininterrompuda. Si algú desconnecta el cable o hi ha un tall, l’ordinador disposa d’uns segons per entrar automàticament en suspensió.
Khadas anuncia més de 48 hores en repòs. El valor és protegir una feina, un càlcul o l’estat de les aplicacions davant d’un microtall, no convertir el mini PC en un portàtil sense pantalla. Zip Tie Tech remarca que és una solució rara en ordinadors d’escriptori i especialment útil en un equip que es mou sovint entre acoblaments.
El desmuntatge mostra aquesta bateria sota la placa, juntament amb un sol ventilador, un dissipador considerable i una cambra de vapor. La RAM no és ampliable. Hi ha accés sense eines a una ranura per a un SSD curt, però arribar als altres components obliga a retirar peus, cargols i antenes Wi-Fi delicades.
Mind Graphics 2: una RTX d’escriptori sense Thunderbolt
El mòdul gràfic incorpora una RTX 5060 Ti de 16 GB, font interna de 350 W, dos ventiladors tipus turbina i refrigeració amb cambra de vapor. També fa de base: afegeix HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, USB-A, Ethernet de 2,5 Gb, lector SD, àudio, altaveus, micròfons i lector d’empremta.
El gran avantatge és Mind Link. El connector magnètic utilitza línies PCIe directes i evita la conversió i la latència que el revisor critica de les eGPU Thunderbolt. A les seves proves, la 5060 Ti d’escriptori situa el conjunt per sobre d’un portàtil amb RTX 5070 Ti mòbil en diverses càrregues, i la diferència podria créixer a resolucions on el processador limita menys.
La integració també redueix els conflictes de controladors habituals en una eGPU. Cal, però, seguir el procediment correcte: la documentació actual de Khadas diu que no s’ha de desconnectar en calent; el Mind ha d’estar apagat o suspès i s’ha d’utilitzar el botó de desbloqueig. En el primer ús cal instal·lar el controlador NVIDIA i el pedaç gràfic indicat per l’aplicació Mind.
Els altaveus del mòdul sonen càlids i amb volum, però al revisor li falta definició d’aguts. En obrir-lo descobreix que Khadas ha separat un petit altaveu de greus i un tweeter. El disseny intern és dens i ben aprofitat, encara que desmuntar-lo exigeix retirar molts cargols amagats sota els peus.
Mind xPlay: la idea de portàtil té concessions
Mind xPlay és una pantalla LCD de 13 polzades i 2,8K amb 500 nits declarats, cobertura del 100% sRGB, càmera, micròfons, altaveus i bateria de 47,9 Wh. El Mind s’acobla a la part posterior i un teclat magnètic completa l’equip. No és una tauleta: la pantalla no és tàctil.
La imatge resulta agradable per si sola, però en una comparació directa amb un MacBook Pro els verds i la reproducció de color queden clarament per darrere. La unió posterior també preocupa: si es força l’angle, el mini PC es pot desprendre. El teclat no té un bloqueig mecànic i es desconnecta amb facilitat.
L’experiència d’escriptura rep una valoració aproximada de B o B menys. El recorregut és llarg i la base no flexiona, però la força i l’estabilitat canvien d’una tecla a l’altra. Una vora ampla damunt de la barra espaiadora provoca pulsacions fallides. El trackpad és petit però correcte; el clic agrada, mentre que el recobriment genera una fricció estranya.
Els dos altaveus de 2 W són clars, però tenen poc volum i pràcticament cap greu. El defecte més important és l’autonomia. Reproduint YouTube a 200 nits, la prova dura 4 hores i 27 minuts. És el pitjor resultat que el canal recorda en uns sis anys de proves de portàtils i queda molt lluny d’un equip convencional modern.
Quatre mòduls i un preu de 4.226 dòlars
En el moment del vídeo, el Mind Pro provat costava 2.299 dòlars, el Mind Graphics 2 amb RTX 5060 Ti en costava 1.349, el Mind Dock 179 i el conjunt xPlay 399. Comprar-ho tot sumava 4.226 dòlars.
La modularitat evita sincronitzar fitxers entre ordinador de camp i estació de treball: el mateix Windows, SSD i processador viatgen entre ubicacions, i la GPU es queda a l’escriptori. Aquesta continuïtat pot justificar la despesa en laboratoris, rodatges o feines on un mini PC potent s’ha de transportar i després accelerar amb CUDA.
Per a un usuari que només vol un bon portàtil i un escriptori potent, 4.200 dòlars també permeten comprar dos equips independents amb menys compromisos. Tindrien millor bateria, teclat i reparabilitat, encara que caldria gestionar dades entre sistemes.
El veredicte: gran mini PC, portàtil secundari
Zip Tie Tech recomana entendre el Mind Pro com el centre del producte. Com a mini PC és ràpid, compacte i diferent gràcies a l’UPS. Mind Graphics 2 és el complement més convincent: dona potència gràfica d’escriptori amb una connexió de més ample de banda i una base plena de ports.
Mind xPlay té més sentit com a accessori ocasional per moure el mateix ordinador que com a substitut d’un portàtil principal. La pantalla és bona, però l’autonomia de 4 hores i 27 minuts, el teclat inconsistent i els acoblaments en limiten l’ús diari.
No hi ha gairebé cap ecosistema comparable, i aquesta singularitat explica part del preu. El Khadas Mind Pro compleix la promesa de canviar de forma sense canviar d’ordinador. El que no aconsegueix és que cada forma sigui tan bona com un dispositiu dissenyat només per a aquella funció.

In front of me, I have possibly one of the craziest device ecosystems that I have ever seen. Now, in this box right here, we have a mini PC. I like sure this looks like a perfectly fine little mini PC. It has a CNC aluminum chassis. It's just over half a kilogram. We have Intel's new Panther Lake inside, so it's rather rapid. And there's decent I-O on the back, but... Okay, cool, well. What's so special about this is on the bottom. If we look here under this little foot, there is a PCIe 5 by 4 slot. And that allows the sky right here to be either, you know, a little mini PC or a workstation with a proper desktop graphics card or a laptop pretty friggin sweet. Let's have a look. What we're looking at is the cadass mind pro. This is being sort of marketed as an AI mini PC, although that's just marketing speak for a pretty powerful mini-PC. So in here we have Intel's Panther Lake 64 gigabytes of RAM and a two-terabyte SSD. It's rather tiny now in the box. We also get a hundred watt GAN charger. Why is the pole tab on the wrong side? Ah, very nice. The PCs have here at least, but I'll buy much. We also get a USB-C cable that's Curled up as if it's a MacBook. Alright. And let's start doing something that's really, really important. I now have some really important unsafe work on this desktop, and we'll be real soon if there was like a power outage or something, or maybe someone just decided to unplug the power supply from this, but it's actually not a problem, because this thing right here has a built-in UPS. It has a 7.9 watt hour battery inside of it, so it automatically will go to sleep when it detects that there's a power outage over a couple of seconds there, it looks like it was up for maybe. 10 seconds to prevent like a brownout, I'm killing it. And it can last for about 48 hours on sleep. And that way you can, you know, there's a power outage. You don't have to worry about it. All of your calculations and your stuff. It's gonna be saved. It's actually freaking sweet. And you can you think of like a desktop that's ever had a built in UPS? None. That's called a laptop. Yeah. Like this is actually sick. I was so confused when I saw it like plugged in. I was just like,

Why does it say it has a battery? And yeah, it's because it actually has a little UPS in it. It's awesome. I've already briefly covered this back, but let's do a tiny bit more detail. So when here we have an Intel Core Ultra 7 358H, you can get the X9 version if you so wish. I don't think you'll get much more performance. You also have 64 gigabytes of RAM at 8,533 mega transfers per second. That two-terabyte NVMe SSD. And of course, we have the Intel Arc B390 GPU. That means that this thing right here is actually quite potent. Let's boot up a game. What do you want? Maybe Valheim, maybe Forza? Forza. Yeah, let's do Forza. Reson 6 is getting released later today, but we're on 5 for now. And any guesses what car I was driving last? $950. That's $15.00 for our out-of-the-scene. Yeah. I like making Meta-Bill. If we have $960 power, though, I'm gonna need a controller to control it. But we have a problem. We only have two Thunderbolts to USB A's and HDMI back here. Oh dear. Fortunately though, I have the mind dock. I actually haven't tested this out, but... I know that has a bunch more IO, so with any left you can just hot plug it into that PCIe's love, dogging initiated. Oh, and it has speakers! Sick! Man, this is a nice volume though right here. Now, with the power of dogging I can finally plug in this controller. Just turn it up so we can hear how the Nio pull this thing sounds. I swear, Andy, this thing wins races. You almost die a thousand times, but it doesn't even matter when you have 900 horsepower. Okay, the brakes are bad so that I could stay in a class and have that much power. Well, we're actually getting like 160 FPS right now. That's a more than I thought we'd be getting and more than the benchmark shows we get. So this is pretty damn good. I'm with a 65 watt TDP, the mind.

Pro is able to beat out laptops that have the same processor. So compared to the XPS 14 and the MSI prestige 14, it wins by a little bit and sometimes a fair bit and multi threaded workloads. Compared to the Lenovo idea pad Pro 16 with an X9 processor, it's able to also beat that sometimes, although it kind of varies test to test. Now, the GPU performance of this is also very impressive with the able to the best most of the panther like laptops, although if a laptop has a dedicated GPU, it sadly falls behind. Should we change that Andy? Let's do it. Inside of this box, we have the mind graphics. We've got a power cord, a desktop class RTX 5060 Ti housed inside of it. Oh, un-docking. Dalking. And he was wondering if we need to keep this plugged into power when it's attached to the EGPU. I'm actually not sure so let's see. When plugged into the EGPU here we have two extra HDMI's display port and also USB-C which can be used as display port as well as a couple USB-A's. Oh yeah, I should probably talk about that instead of just freaking around here. I think we can increase the graphics a little bit here. 4k, yeah screw it. Well, makes this work so great is the fact that it has PCIe Gen 5 connecting the two together. So a lot of EGPUs will be using Thunderbolt and in my experience. It's terrible. First of all, this link right here has three times the band with a Thunderbolt 4 and one and a half times the band with a Thunderbolt 5. But that isn't even the whole story. Like Thunderbolt 5 looks pretty good on paper, but you don't have those PCI-E lanes going directly from the Thunderbolt port to the CPU. Instead, it's CPU. Thunderbolt controller and then it goes out and that controller can lead to a whole bunch of latency and that's not really an issue if you're just trying to like transfer large files but when you're trying to connect a graphics card to a laptop it's very problematic on top of that anytime that I use an EGPU it's just awful like you plug it in and then the driver's fight and then it's like 30 minutes and your entire gaming time's taken up by just being like um plugging unplugging drivers up there

Unsurprisingly, a desktop graphics card is a lot faster than a laptop I GPU. So this thing is substantially faster with the 5060 Ti. In my testing, it stacks up above the same with an RTX 5070 Ti that is mobile because mobile GPUs are just... not as fast as their desktop counterparts. And I think that this right here could dominate IGPs even harder if I did my tests at 4K because the CPU was becoming the bottleneck. Now, inside of the mind graphics, we have two speakers, no other details about the speakers, but Cadass does make amplifiers and DAX, so my expectations are actually kind of high for this thing. It gets pretty loud. It sounds like pretty rich. I don't know about the travel. Maybe they could use some tweeters in there, but that's here the drop here. It's pleasant. It's really warm. Like we're getting more dumped than like punch. But... Alright. It's not bad. But there's the MacBook. You have so much more travel and mid. Like it has more bass, but also it's not a laptop. So, I think that if they give it... Ha, it actually says very explicitly on the website that there's no touchscreen functionality. I probably should have read that before, so they're just assuming it was. So, hopefully we didn't say it was a tablet before because it's not. All right, we need this. We need this. Now we can finish setting up our feet with BC.

You know, I don't love this attachment right here. It's not quite strong enough and so now that I have the screen tilted way down, it just falls off. Yeah, that's as far back as it can tilt and in fairness, like, I can't do a whole lot more. All right, we now have it all set up and the screen looks rather good. It's a 13 inch 2.8k display and it does cover 100% of SRGB and has a 500 nit peak brightness. I still want some content here, yeah. It looks decent, but I can tell just by the green on the chrome right there that it's not 100% accurate. This is not going to be a fair comparison for this green, but it's going off against the MacBook. Let's just look at this one for a second. Like when you're not comparing it to anything else, this does look pretty decent. Like 500 nits is pretty bright. It is an LCD, so we're not having those like perfect pitch blacks, but like... These bars up here are pretty darn good. Like, you aren't going to be complaining about this display at all until you look at it compared to, like, on my quote. Call a reproduction, get and killed, braids, get and absolutely killed. And particularly, the greens just don't look right on this. And I don't totally know, like we don't have professional equipment yet to figure out the accuracy, but my eyeballs tell me it's wrong. It turns out that when you compare this display to basically the best display on the market it loses, like every single other windows locked off. Like, keyboard keeps on coming in done. Is there a lock? I have confirmed that there's no lock. That's actually a pretty good idea, Andy. That would be a great solution to set up just the magnets, even though I do look magnets. But how is the keyboard here? This keyboard isn't... terrible. It benefits from having very little chassis flex because there is no chassis underneath it. One thing that I do find quite annoying is that you have this large shelf-raight here above the spacebar, so I found I was hitting that instead of the spacebar itself at times. But what I have discovered with my fingering of the keys, some of them have different stability than others. So let's see here. It's specifically the top of the key

The way that it actually waits is different from Keta Kee. So if we look at B right here and I press it on the top, do you see how the entire key is actuating there Andy? So that's good. If we look at N, can you see how it feels like you're hitting a bump and then goes though? Yeah, so the entire key is like pitching forward a little bit before it goes down. And this is kind of like, I, I goes down really good. Oh feels different and why is particularly like inconsistent? H. H requires less force than the ones that are around it. Basically the keys are inconsistent. They haven't selected a good enough partner for their keys, which is, and it's manifesting in just an inconsistent typing experience where we'll be getting up to full speed and like great. And then something trips me up because you has a different feeling than I and then the next thing you know you've made a whole bunch of mistakes and you're like what happened? I thought I was all good. The travel is nice and long. It's not satisfying to hit them. I think I'm gonna give this a B, a soft B, maybe a strong B minus. It's not a particularly great keyboard. As for the trackpad, it's perfectly fine. It's on the smaller side for sure, but I'm sure they don't have access to every single trackpad manufacturer on the Earth. And it has decent enough tracking. I have no complaints there. The click feel is great. Like, I'm not going to complain too much about the trackpad. Although I have had some of the, oh, I think I need to hand-lude it up one sec. Look, Andy, if I, has one of these coatings on the top where, I can bounce my finger on it, but I think if I just get a bunch of finger grease on there. No, okay, one sec, more finger grease. A lot of grossness. Still is bouncing, okay? They should get a different sort of coating on here, unless you want to do one of those like, good for cookie-clicker. All right, let's have a listen to the speakers on the mind-decks probe. We have two two-watch speakers, and they're not particularly great.

Their clear and the treble is coming through but there's zero base and not a lot of volume. So let's turn on the MacBook Pro. Yeah, that's a a complete absolute domination there. Yeah, on the back of this display we have a 47.9 watt hour battery and cadass says that it will get you three hours of heavy usage which I suspect means that they haven't put in a whole lot of time to tuning it for low power consumption, although we'll need to go to future Alex to see how long it lasts in the battery show now. The battery life test just finished and simply doing YouTube playback at 200 nits. This thing lasted four hours and 27 minutes. That's about 13 hours worse than the second worst laptop that I've ever done. It gets absolutely destroyed by everything that is the worst battery life test I have done in six years maybe something like that. It is completely dreadful. And it also does that thing sometimes when it's connected to the wall. through this. That battery life wasn't extremely underwhelming. I will be shocked. But let's tear it apart. Do you want to do the mini PC or the EGPU for a standy? Mini PC. Mini PC. Mini PC. All right. I have undone four torxes. What has that gained me? Uh-huh. Take that off and we're filled. Filps. Everyone, please don't put screws underneath the feet of your devices. The feet never go back on the same. Or wait, is this just a foot screw? No, it's even worse. It's foot screws that hide an additional screw. Oh my god. Unbelievable. Oh weird. I was expecting the two speakers to be like, you know, two full-range-ish speakers, but instead they have a sub and a little soft-dome tweeter. I'm surprised that this doesn't get to more trouble. There's the GPU. Oh, and I have more screws to take apart. Excellent. They are going to be sweating. Watching this.

This tiny little cable needs to come off. That's the PCIe one. We really don't want to forget that one up now the top comes off. Can I safely undo this ribbon too? All right, we're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing it. We're getting inside. Yes, so on the bottom here all of this space is for the speakers and on the top we have a 350 watt power supply that is feeding our GPU. The GPU is rated in the middle here and to cool it We have these two blower style fans and all the heat sink is on the back and it blows through that. I don't know if you can tell but the GPU's inside of there and it looks like they have a vapor chamber that goes all the way back to dissipate the heat. Overall I am pretty impressed with the design of it. Like this is very compact and they have fit a lot in here. Jump! Alright that's back together and I have no screws left over. Yay! I'll take apart the mini PC. First thing on the bottom right here... We have an SSD port so you can't put a big guy in here, but you can put a small SSD inside of it and you don't even need any tools to get in there. Boom. Well, I bet like that. Look, I can already tell us it's gonna be a foot-removeable job though. Just show your screws. No one cares. They know that you need screws in your devices. You don't need to cover them up. There we go. Light up creativity by bridging tools, spaces, and mines. Cool. Over here we have our SSD so you can only put a small guy in there, but actually they oh no that's the one that we saw on the underside. Okay cool. So that's the one that we already saw and otherwise we need to take apart more things to see stuff. At least favorite thing. We have little Wi-Fi antennas to take off. These are super easy to break. Now that we're inside we can see that battery that they have as a little UPS.

We also have a single fan here and a pretty substantial heat sink. And what once again looks like a great big vapor chamber. That's pretty damn impressive and I guess that's how they managed to this paid those 65 watts from here. Yeah, clearly we cannot replace the ram or anything else, but you want to replace the battery that shouldn't be too too difficult if they have spares. Overall, I think this is a super cool little mini PC. I really, really appreciate the fact that they have a UPS built-in. I think that is so sick. And the fact that it super easily attaches to a dedicated GPU is really cool as well. If you want something that's portable and you can sort of take around spots like maybe you need to do. Science in the field or something like that this thing could be really cool. If you want a proper laptop, I don't know if the mind x play is what I would go for, but if you already have one of these in your primary use cases in many PC and you just want to be able to move it around easily, it is a pretty good option. But overall, look at the price. So the mind pro is... $2,299. That does get you 64 gigabytes of RAM and two terabyte SSD, which is a lot of money in RAM, but also it's not cheap, that's for sure. As for the graphics, the Skarri here is $1,349, the little dock that we had, that's $179. And this portable modular is $399. all of that together you're looking at 4,226 dollars. Ah, wow. That said, there really is nothing like it. So if you want a super portable and flexible mini PC, that's what you're gonna have to pay, or you could spend $4,200 on a laptop and a desktop.
