Clicks Communicator o Unihertz Titan 2 Elite: quin mòbil amb teclat físic encaixa millor?

We got to see a working version of the Clicks Communicator today and I'm excited about it. Raises some questions and as somebody who's been using the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite for a couple of months now, I want to kind of talk about it because I get a lot of questions from folks saying, "Should I get the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite? Should I wait for the Clicks Communicator?" And then interestingly enough, there's people who say, "I'm glad I got the Titan 2 Elite now." And then there are people who say, "I'm glad that I reserved the Clicks Communicator instead of the Titan 2 Elite." So, clearly, even in this world where we have two different options. And actually, there's a third that's coming around as well because the guys at Minimalist put up a teaser about their new phone coming out that you can I guess sign up for something now. I can't remember what it is. But yes, uh this is the year of the physical keyboard smartphone. Even though it's going to be Q4, which means basically the end of the year for the Clicks Communicator. The Titan 2 Elite, of course, is supposed to have It should have started shipping already. It was supposed to start shipping to people who backed the Kickstarter in June and then people who pre-ordered it, I believe, in like October. So, before it's really fully out there in the market, there's not going to be that too much of a difference

between the Titan 2 Elite and when the Clicks Communi- Clicks Communicator comes out. Maybe within like, I don't know, 2 months, month and a half of each other, which I'm okay with that. But anyway, so looking at the video today, there were it it's really nice. And they're running Niagara Launcher, which is a special launcher on top of It's like a skinned version of Android. Whereas with the Titan 2 Elite, you just get stock Android, which I'm more of a stock Android kind of person, but I do appreciate the deliberate approach that Clicks is taking with Niagara Launcher to kind of focus in the environment around productivity and communication. Something it feels kind of Blackberry-ish in 2026, even though Blackberry doesn't make phones anymore, but their stock is more relevant than it's been in like 20 years. It's crazy. Like their stock's going crazy right now, but that's not advice to buy any. I have 100 shares, but that's nothing. >> [laughter] >> Uh not saying don't go buy any, but it's crazy what what they're doing right now. So, the Clicks Communicator, I held the working sample, like the the the handmade sample. I I got to go hands-on with it a few times back in CES, also MWC. I made videos about it before. And I like the design. It's a very modern, trendy design. It looks like something Logitech would make almost back when Logitech was making cool hardware stuff, like the little keyboard that you could

use to connect to your TV and things like that. And if you want something kind of similar to it, of course, Clicks has been making keyboards for a while. This is the ever so coveted Razer Berry, and this is the Clicks keyboard on my Motorola RAZR Ultra. Which, let me take this off. And it really it's funny. There's like two different schools, and I I get so many comments all the time. Some people are like, "I like what Clicks is doing." And some people are like, "Ooh, I'm turned off by the Clicks keyboard. I like the more BlackBerry-style keyboard of Unihertz Titan 2 Elite better." And that kind of shows two different things. One, there's people who really like the old BlackBerry feel and design, which I feel is what Unihertz is trying to capture, at least in spirit of the hardware. And then, the Clicks Communicator feels like it's trying to be more modern, trying to capture some of the essence of BlackBerry with productivity focus, not just being a keyboard, but being a keyboard productivity platform with some enhancements built into the software to try and make your life more simple, streamline, and easy taking advantage of the keyboard. So, it's like with the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite, it feels like I'm typing on a BlackBerry, and it feels like I'm holding one in my hand, but clearly I'm very much using an Android phone. And there's not a whole lot here other than a of course,

yes, you can swipe on the keyboard to change the menus, scroll the screen, and it's got shortcut keys and things like that. But, it doesn't really have that BlackBerry productivity, security kind of feel to it. And that's a question that I can I worry about all the time with security stuff, long-term support, updates, things like that. And we really have to take both of these with a grain of salt because both companies are offering about 5 years of support, but they don't have a track record of that. So, it's like, okay, do we trust the guys that used to work with BlackBerry, who used to be with CrackBerry, who used to be with whoever building their own in a kind of, I guess, North American Canadian market, or do we trust the guys at Unihertz who have no track record of this and the phone comes out in China, which, of course, Unihertz, I mean, the Click Communicator, I'm sure was built in China, too. But, yeah, I get that question all the time. I'm like, I I I don't It's one of those things where Android it is pretty secure, but at the same time, like, I I don't I'm not going to answer for anybody else how I feel about security and banking apps and stuff like that. So, when it comes to the Click Communicator, taking a look at them using it today, it's neat. I love that the fingerprint scanner is built into the space bar,

and that's something that's straight out of the page from the BlackBerry KEYone, KEY2 days. With the Titan 2 Elite, it's in the power button, and it actually works really well. Like, I think it's in a good spot. It works well. And with it being in the keyboard, like, I don't know. If you hold it in your left hand, I guess maybe it'll be okay. I never really liked it in the keyboard. I felt it was inconsistent with the BlackBerry mobile KEYone and KEY2. But, apparently with the way that they designed it with the ergonomics and everything, based off of what Clicks is saying, it looks like it should be better. I do like the little beacon light on the side for the notifications. They said that it's got a barometric pressure sensor in it, which supposedly, I guess will help with altitude and GPS data. And has three microphones built into it, so a good calling experience, so other people can hear you well on the other end. And has stereo speakers. The Titan 2 Elite only has one speaker, which it's an okay speaker. Stereo speakers is always better. And yeah, the new version, so the Clicks Communicator is also running off of Android 17 with the Niagara launcher on it right now, which which it looks cool. And it'll be interesting and somebody who's like, "I don't like that launcher." It's Android, you can probably change it out and customize it however you want. Um So, yeah,

I've used the Titan 2 Elite a lot. I'm looking forward to the Communicator. I love all things physical keyboard smartphones. So, both of them are going to be something that I'll have on my desk and I'll interchangeably use them. It'll be interesting to see Clicks take on the user interface, the software, what kind of shortcuts, what kind of productivity stuff they bring to the table. And I saw some neat little things, of course, where they showed off where you can just start typing and it'll pull up different apps based off the letters you type. That's very much like a feature in iOS that I love a lot. And short little window replies and things like that. So, I think they're trying to make kind of a spiritual modern successor with some of the shortcuts we used to have with BlackBerry and BB10 back in the day. And that kind of makes sense and it fits with the design language and everything like that. So, with my experience with the Titan 2 Elite, I think this is a good phone. I think it's worth the money. I've really enjoyed using it. The Clicks Communicator, of course, I have not used one of those. I don't have one of the working samples. I only had the video to go off of and we still have a ways to go. But, I think the company has a good track record. I think that they make solid keyboards. I think that they've got

a lot of experience that's come to the table to make it, particularly working with even the guy that helped create and design the BlackBerry Classic and Q10 and I think the Classic and Q10 anyway. I know for sure the Classic. And there's a lot going on there. And I had people who were complaining saying, "Oh, they they said they would have a working sample by the end of June and they they mailed in the homework to the teacher on the last day." I'm like, "Come on, guys. Like don't don't start this crap. Okay? It They're They're basically an independent company with a couple of people who started with a dream who are now making a physical keyboard apparently are interested in. They met their deadline. This is something that's very very common whenever it comes to startup projects. I'm not calling them a Kickstarter cuz they didn't Kickstarter, but it's a startup project for sure even with an established company. So, give them some credit where credit is due. And this isn't just because I know half of them. I I really try not to put individual bias into this stuff. Like I don't really know the guys over at Unihertz, but I love the Titan 2 Elite. I think it's a fantastic phone. I really been enjoying using it. I think it's got a really good keyboard on it. I think they did a lot of things right. Could it be better? Yes. Could it be more perfect? Yes,

for sure. There are things they could do to improve it. But for where we're at and what they're doing, I applaud it and I think they're doing great thing. And then with the guys over at Clicks, we have a little bit longer to go. And it's neat. I like the removable back plate. I like you can just pop it off, take the SIM card in and out, and add an SD card, take that in and out very easily. You don't need a tool, none of that stuff. That's a feature that's very reminiscent of BlackBerry. And in the video, it looks like the battery it looks like an old classic removable battery, but from everything that they've said, that's not a removable battery, but it gosh darn is it a teaser and some people I know are going to be disappointed, but still it's going to be like a 4500 milliamp battery with a 4.03 inch screen that's going to get you decent battery till the cows come home. So, I'm not really worried about that at all. So, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I think it's going to be two completely different experiences with two completely different keyboards, especially we've seen in the video, and I think the keyboard works better. This is a good product, but the more oval, more elongated towards the top shape keys, I think have a better footprint for typing and for making sure that you type more accurately and

more and more tactically tactically tactfully, however you want to say it. Um and I think that there's a lot to like there. I think there's a lot of promise here. I think if you've reserved it or you pre-ordered it or whatever and you're waiting, I think you'll be happy whenever it gets here. And I hope to be happy whenever it gets here because it looks like something I personally want to use. It's something I'm excited about, and I like the contrast between the idea of having the Titan 2 Elite with the stock Android and then having the option of a equally powerful, equally good performance with a different flair, a different feeling, and a different take on a modern keyboard smartphone that both of them really have great DNA that goes back to the idea of a BlackBerry, but with modern features, modern takes on keyboards, modern hardware, and something that people can really appreciate and hopefully build from this moving forward. So, I don't think you can really go wrong with either. I think both are good options. Some people reserved and pre-ordered both of them. And those guys I think are going to be the biggest winners cuz then you can have fun with both of them. >> [laughter] >> Not encouraging everybody to go out and buy both, but yeah, I I think that there's promise here. and I can't wait for y'all to get your hands on them as well because the more keyboard phones out there in the world, I think it it's better a better place because we have choice, we have options, and we have what we want. And this is what I've been talking about for a long time. This is the year. Look at Z Fold, the upcoming Z Fold 8, wide. Look at the upcoming iPhone foldable that's small and compact looking from everything that we've seen. The normal foldable phones, the flip phones, the keyboard phones, the slab phones, the thin phones. I'm all about choice and this year is the greatest amount of choice that we've had in the smartphone industry in a horrendously long time and I'm all for it. So, that's all I've got. It's kind of my comparison and contrast between both of the phones based off of my experience with one, what I've seen with the other, and what I'm hopeful for the future.
